Naples, #1 Again

Aerial Shot of Naples Pier in Naples, FL

Naples has once again ranked #1 as the best cities for retirement, not only statewide but nationwide as well! SmartAsset, who is the financial technology firm who ranked the best cities for early retirement this year. They worked these numbers based on three factors: tax-friendliness, medical care and social life. SmartAsset has published these results for the past five years and Naples has ranked in the top ten every single year and holding the #1 spot for the past three. To determine the rankings, SmartAsset looks at state and local tax rates and calculates the number of doctors' offices, recreation centers and retirement centers for every 1,000 residents, as well as determines the amount of seniors already living in each area included in its study. Naples ranked high in all areas of the study, earning a score of 100 on SmartAsset's retirement index.

In the top 5 spots in the state following Naples, are

  • New Port Richey

  • Orange Park

  • Brooksville

  • Inverness

For the nationwide results for the top 5, include:

  • Cumming, Georgia

  • Beverly Hills, California

  • Gig Harbor, Washington

  • Wasilla, Alaska

The SmartAsset report is not the only one listing Naples in their top results. Another firm, Magnify Money, recently listed Naples in the top 20 for FIRE (Financially Independent, Retire Early).
