SmartAsset, who is the financial technology firm who ranked the best cities for early retirement this year. They worked these numbers based on three factors: tax-friendliness, medical care and social life. SmartAsset has published these results for the past five years and Naples has ranked in the top ten every single year and holding the #1 spot for the past three. To determine the rankings, SmartAsset looks at state and local tax rates and calculates the number of doctors' offices, recreation centers and retirement centers for every 1,000 residents, as well as determines the amount of seniors already living in each area included in its study. Naples ranked high in all areas of the study, earning a score of 100 on SmartAsset's retirement index.

This report is based on those seeking early retirement but only once they have achieved financial independence that would free them from conventional employment.
