Bathroom Design Trends

Technology in bathrooms is starting to take over as more and more of our lives become intertwined with newer technology.

Transitional and contemporary are expected to be the most popular master bathroom styles in the next few years, with this technology is also taking center stage according to a 2019 Bathroom Design Trends Study conducted by the National Kitchen & Bath Association. Although less popular were coastal, craftsman, rustic, mid-century and organic also show potential.

On the technology aspect of bathrooms, there's been a growing popularity amongst Temperature Control or Thermostat Smart Control, Water-Conservation technology, internet connected products, leak detection, occupancy sensors, as well as wall mounted touch panel interfaces and voice activated controls for Faucets/Tubs/Toilets/Lighting.

Other findings included touch controls in showers, vanities and cabinets (floating vanities, new finishes, different heights, reduced depth and open shelves) and technology solutions (controls for lighting, music and water temperature; leak detectors; mirrors with TV; app-enabled control for radiant floors, and digital shower valves). Although within the study, they found that more innovation is needed in hardware and accessories. Some of these being integrated grab bars, toilet paper holders and decorative towel bars, as well as more finish options for linear drains, and safety products.
