The Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS) is hosting its third Spring Appraisal Faire March 2 & 3, 2018. Proceeds from The Spring Appraisal Faire will benefit the Marco Island Historical Society. One of the Society’s major initiatives is the return of the Key Marco artifacts discovered on Marco Island in 1896 for a major 2018-2021 exhibition at the Marco Island Historical Museum. Sponsorships are available for all Spring Appraisal Affair events. Contact Pat Rutledge, MIHS Executive Director for more information at 239.389.6447 or exec@themihs.org.
March 2 Program: The Faire kicks off on Friday March 2 with a public program presented by the guest appraisers, Wes Cowan, Nan Chisholm and Ken Farmer — who appear regularly on the popular PBS program Antiques Roadshow — they will discuss the “State of the Antiques World” at the MIHS Rose History Auditorium.
March 3 Appraisal Faire: The Appraisal Faire is scheduled for Saturday March 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Have your treasures appraised by the celebrity appraisers (up to three items per person), while enjoying music, food, and entertainment.
Admission is exclusively for those bringing items to be appraised. Cost is $40 per item, $25 per item for MIHS members. Items to be appraised include fine art, fine jewelry and timepieces, sculpture, folk art, rare books and photographs, historic Americana, decorative arts, Native American objects and Western artifacts. Firearms, stamps or coins will not be accepted for appraisal.
March 3 “An Affaire to Remember”: A special fundraising gala concludes the Faire from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Island Country Club on Marco Island with fine dining, dancing, silent auction and a live auction conducted by Wes Cowan and Ken Farmer. Black tie is optional. Tickets are $225 per person.
