According to the Collier County Property Appraiser’s office preliminary numbers, the percentage of just values is up double digits in the county, anchored by Naples and Marco Island. Abe Skinner, county property appraiser said countywide just or fair-market values increased a total of 12.17 percent in 2016 to approximately $102 billion from $90 billion in 2015, including the value of new construction.
This is up from 2012 when the just value dropped to $70 billion. “Since then,” stated Mr. Skinner, “values have been coming back.”
The city of Naples’ just values were up 11.41 percent to $25.9 billion from $23.2 billion. Marco Island saw a 10.63 percent rise in just values to 11.4 billion from $10.3 billion. The county commissioners’ report from February of this year recommended keeping the General Fund millage rate the same for 2017, for the eighth consecutive fiscal year.
